Unlike Sylk, many other personal lubricants contain petrochemicals like Propylene Glycol and Paraben preservatives.

Some even contain sugars, colours and flavours which may also cause allergies - so it's important to always read the label when buying any personal care product.

TIP: Stop Chafing & Rashes
To help chafing, smear a thin film over the area usually affected and let it dry. Perspiration will activate Sylk, whose natural ingredients inhibit micro-organism growth, yeast fungus and bacteria and soothe any sore points.

TIP: Enjoy stronger orgasms
Regular pelvic floor exercise helps to support vital organs and avoid incontinence in later years - with the big plus of stronger orgasms. Click here to learn more or go to Resources & Links

TIP: Getting 'in the mood' faster - for women
Try applying some Sylk shortly beforehand. For the best result, apply a thin film and allow a few minutes for it to dry. The second application will then give you optimum slipperiness.

TIP: Always keep Sylk handy
Sylk's size is deliberate - it's perfect for under the pillow, in your hand bag, for a weekend away, travel, the car glove box or hidden all over the house. You never know when you might want some, and that perfect timing and mood can be ruined if you don't have Sylk at hand. So think about buying several bottles - Sylk has a long shelf life and will remain fresh, unless it's left in extreme heat over a long period of time.

TIP: Become a Hot Sex Goddess
Warm your bottle of Sylk in another container of hot water or in the microwave for 20 seconds. Shake before use. Please be careful you do not overheat it and burn yourself. Warmed Sylk is especially silky and delicious on those cold nights and your partner will adore it! Or to keep it warm beside your bed, put the bottle in a glass of hot water. Or on hot and sultry nights, try it straight from the fridge.

TIP: Easing the tampon ‘ouch’
Tampons are often drying so a drop of Sylk on the tip of a tampon makes insertion easier and more comfortable.

TIP: Making Condoms More Fun
Give your condom wearer more feeling and pleasure - carefully put a drop or two of Sylk on the top of the penis or inside the top of the condom before wearing to increase stimulation.

You don't have to 'have a partner' or 'need a lubricant' to enjoy Sylk!

Sylk spices up your sex life and adds some variety as well as enhancing personal intimacy. Plenty of Sylk and a little imagination make sensual massage, foreplay and masturbation as well as sexual intercourse more pleasurable and more fun by enhancing sensation. Sylk can be safely used on and in all genital areas, by yourself or with your lover.

How to apply Sylk

Using clean fingers, apply a small amount - around a teaspoonful - to your (or your partner's or both) genital area. Add a few drops of water or saliva or repeat application to reactivate lubricity as sometimes body heat, ambient temperature or prolonged activity can start to dry out any water-based lubricant.

There are approximately 10 uses per 40g bottle but for an extra fun time, you can use the whole bottle. Take care if you're near a spa or on a wet and already slippery bathroom floor! Sylk is not only perfect for body-sliding and erotic massage, it is non-sticky, doesn't stain and cleans up easily with a damp facecloth. Sylk is convenient in that you don't have to wash it off afterwards, unlike many of the sticky lubricants around. Instead, you can just drift off into blissful sleep in your lover's arms.

Condoms and safe sex

Massage oils, aromatic oils, baby oils, petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and many hand & body lotions are unsuitable for internal use - especially with condoms and diaphragms - as the oil can quickly break down the latex and make them ineffective. As well, they may irritate tender mucous tissue and could cause an infection. It's important to use a water based personal lubricant like Sylk with condoms to reduce the risk of condom breakage (by too much friction), to avoid latex 'burn' and to increase sensitivity and luscious pleasure for both partners.

Pregnancy precautions

Although Sylk is not intended as a spermicide, Sylk's pH balance can affect motility, the movement of sperm and should therefore not be used if pregnancy is desired. (Also true of most other personal lubricants!)

When ovulation occurs, the pH balance changes to around 7 which is a neutral pH state. Sylk has a pH balance of 4.5 - 4.7, similar to the normal vaginal environment, i.e. slightly acidic. This is deliberate to keep the vagina healthy and not alter the balance.

If you're trying for a baby, we suggest Pre-seed - click on this name or see our Links & Resources Page. Avoid petroleum jelly, massage oils, aromatic oils, baby or other oils made from minerals and containing paraffin and fragrances, at all times.

However, once you're confirmed pregnant, you can safely return to using Sylk because it is gentle, healthy and 100% free from petrochemicals like paraben perservative and propylene glycol.
