How often do I apply Sylk?
As often as you feel is necessary to make sex not just comfortable but to feel great and make your experience - and your partner's - as pleasurable as possible. Usually, just prior to sex and sometimes during.
How much Sylk do I use?
Usually just a teaspoonful or a few drops on clean fingertips. A little goes a long way which is another reason why Sylk is such an effective lubricant. There are around 10 uses per 40g bottle but it is perfectly safe to use the whole bottle in one night if you wish, especially for massage and body-sliding.
Doesn't the Kiwifruit contain sugar?
Sylk is not made from the fruit but an extract of the vine, an ultra-slippery sap like substance that has some unusual lubricating and moisturising properties. The natural formulation is deliberately free of flavours, colours and sugars which could cause allergies. Sylk has been used worldwide for more than 16 years, with thousands of compliments received every year.
Does Sylk enhance pleasure for men too?
Yes it does, as the unique feel enhances sensitivity is especially good for erotic massage and when using condoms. For maximum pleasure for your partner, put a drop inside the tip of the condom before putting it on, then massage plenty of lubricant onto the outside. Extra lubricant should always be used with condoms (as latex sensitivity can be increased with friction) and Sylk is ideal to use with all types of condoms and sex toys.
Can he tell I'm using a lubricant?
Depending on your sexual activity, maybe, and maybe not, as Sylk not only feels exactly like your own lubrication, it feels so wonderful that it actually helps stimulate your body to produce more. Applied carefully beforehand, it's hard to tell, and you needn't say anything to your partner if you don't want to - although using Sylk openly adds more intimacy and fun during foreplay and sex. And once men discover Sylk, they love it too.
Is Sylk a desensitising lubricant for men?
No, on the contrary, Sylk has a very exciting feel which can enhance a man's erection and experience. Specialist men's clinics have provided and recommended Sylk as a training "device" against premature ejaculation and many men enjoy Sylk for self-pleasuring.
How does Sylk compare to other lubricants?
Unlike most lubricants, Sylk is natural and does not contain Parabens or Propylene glycols, which are both petro-chemical. Nor does Sylk contain other synthetic chemicals like DEA / TEA (see "Chemicals we won't use") or flavours, colours or sugars all of which could cause allergies. Sylk is a luxurious smooth and silky fluid, not a gel. It's extra slippery but it doesn't leave a sticky mess you have to wash off later. With Sylk you use less, and it's longer lasting too.
How does Sylk compare to the topical women's enhancement creams?
Firstly, Sylk can be used on and around the clitoral area as well. The special properties of the Kiwifruit vine extract provide a sensuous, softening effect that helps to 'put you in the mood' and increase sensitivity and excitement so for many women, Sylk is effective both as a sexual enhancer and a lubricant which makes it very cost effective. And the feeling is almost immediate once applied so you don't have to use Sylk in advance. Sylk can be used in tandem with topical enhancement products but it should be noted that these gels, creams or lotions are not lubricants or designed for internal use. However, we do not believe in products that contain petro-chemicals (like propylene glycol and paraben preservatives) for use on women's extra sensitive spots so the only pleasure-enhancing one we recommend is womanzone, another great all-natural product from clean, green New Zealand (just like Sylk).
Is Sylk okay to use if you're pregnant?
Absolutely. Sylk is gentle and non-irritating and being natural, is probably the most intelligent choice in lubricants to use if you're pregnant. Women know that what they put on their skin is to some extent absorbed, which is why more chemical compositions need to be considered when being used on delicate mucosal tissue. Sylk is recommended by women for women, and has been sold worldwide for over 16 years. And the by the way, Sylk can also help you get over the 'ouch' factor after the birth.
What is the pH of Sylk?
Sylk has a pH balance of 4.5 - 4.7, similar to the normal vaginal environment, i.e. slightly acidic. This is deliberate to keep the vagina healthy and not alter the balance. Sylk is not intended as a spermicide however, its pH balance (like most other lubricants) can affect motility, the movement of sperm and therefore should not be used if you're trying to conceive. When ovulation occurs, the pH balance in the vagina changes to around 7 which is a neutral pH state when pregnancy can occur.
Has Sylk ever been tested on animals?
Never, and unlike some lubricants that contain Lactose or Diazolidinyl Urea, a preservative of animal origin, Sylk does not contain any animal products so it's the perfect choice for vegans and vegetarians. Make sure you always check the label and are aware of chemicals we won't use in personal care products.
